LEISURE LIFE SKILLS INSTRUCTOR
Bargaining Unit: OPSEU Paramed
Status: Full Time
Department: Employment Services
Site: St. Joseph's Health Centre
Shifts: Days, evenings and weekends may be required
Rate of Pay: $33.38 - $34.03 per hour
The Leisure Life Skills Instructor utilizes recreation to maximize independence and promote an optimal leisure lifestyle. The Leisure Life Skills Instructor is responsible for the assessments, interventions, and evaluations to promote skill development in all leisure domains. They work as part of an interprofessional team and acts as a consultant to other disciplines and outside agencies.
Qualifications:
- Possesses a degree/diploma in Recreation or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Possesses knowledge and experience in Therapeutic Recreation programming
- Possesses current first aid and cardio-pulmonary resuscitation - Possesses a valid Class "G" Driver's License
- Driver's Safety Program
- Proven supervisory, interpersonal, group and assertive communication skillsbr> - Ability to work flexible hours

Ability to work independently as well as in partnership with colleagues

Knowledge of psychiatric rehabilitation principles and practices

Membership in the supporting professional organization (TRO) and/or other Therapeutic Recreation Societies is strongly encouraged
Preferred Credentials/Affiliations:

Professional member in good standing with TRO

Membership with the Canadian Therapeutic Recreation Association or similar related associations
CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT

This position shall be conditional upon a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions.
