Summer Camp Leader
About the role
Summer Camp Staff required for July and August. We have done most of our summer hiring for these fun positions but we could use one more amazing staff member. Great position for students working towards their Bachelor of Education or TOC's working in the school district or anyone that loves children. Must be 19 years of age for this position. Staff will function as a team member and help provide the day-to-day delivery of recreational, social and educational summer programming for children.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and planning of the overall summer program for children in collaboration with other staff.
- Assist with leading the daily program.
- Participate in all the activities with the children.
- Maintain a focus on building relationships with children and their parents and provide professional communication with parents
- Other related duties as required including, but not limited to, cleaning and maintaining classroom and prepping crafts.
Qualifications
- Experience working with children or currently taking your BEd is preferred.
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to take direction
- Ability to plan and implement recreational programming to participants
- Ability to mentor children and provide positive role-modeling.
- Skilled at critical thinking to manage conflicts in group dynamics to successful resolution.
- Talent for developing strong, cooperative relationships.
- Confident to communicate and discuss issues with management and parents.
- Employee must clear a Criminal Record Check
- First Aid Certificate (Level One)
Working Conditions
- Required to remain at program site until all children are picked up by a designated adult.
- Work with children that may need extra inclusion support.
- Employee must be good physical health in order to lead and participate in recreational activities and have the ability to be outside and on feet for a large portion of the day.
Candidate must meet criteria set out by Canada Summer Jobs, noting that members of immediate families cannot officially be hired. Applicants must also be under 30 years of age and a permanent resident that is legally entitled to work in Canada (which means a valid Social Insurance Number).
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Contract length: 2 months
Pay: $17.85-$19.00 per hour
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
Work Location: In person
