About The Role Accommodated Exam Service Assistant provides support to students who experience disability related barriers in the post-secondary learning environment. The Accommodated Exam Service Assistant must be familiar with the post-secondary learning context, be comfortable working with a diverse group of students with varying needs, and possess the ability to develop positive working relationships with numerous community members. The Accommodated Exam Service Assistant must possess strong interpersonal, communication, time management, reading, and writing skills and be willing to work on an on-call basis, which may require working a short shift within the day. Students who experience disability related barriers have access to a wide range of assistive technology, so the Accommodated Exam Service Assistant must be familiar with assistive technology. This casual position requires availability Monday to Friday between 8:30 AM and 3:00 PM and/or between 3:00 PM to 9:30 PM during the Fall and Winter semesters. We are seeking three Exam Service Assistants to add to our casual roster.

Accountabilities/Duties Assist the Accommodated Exam Centre in facilitating an extremely high volume of exams/assessments while communicating effectively and supporting the Accommodated Exam Team and other community members. Work closely with the Accommodated Exam Facilitator to complete the packaging and accurate delivery of exams to students, as well as other members of the Exam Team, to facilitate accuracy of the Accommodated Exam Service and to ensure exam integrity. Invigilate exams in the Accommodated Exam Centre and its satellite locations and deal respectfully and confidentially with community members.

Available to work 3 to 4 hours; either between 8:00 AM and 3:00 PM or 3:00 PM and 9:30 pm (shift days and times will vary). Available for onboarding on August 21, 2025, from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Responsibilities Accommodated Exam Support Providing support to the Accommodated Exam Team in receiving, seating, and securing exams. This includes communicating and directing students writing in the Exam Centre, and supporting other members of the Exam Team in maintaining their workflow.

  • Responsible for maintaining the processes and procedures of the Accommodated Exam Centre
  • Responsible for greeting and directing students in the Exam Centre
  • Ensuring students have stored their belongings and are entering the exam space with permitted materials
  • Seating students based on their accommodations
  • Familiarity with assistive technology software and devices to be able to assist community members in the Exam Centre or its satellite locations
  • Confirming accurate information provided on the exam cover page with students
  • Collecting, securing, and accurately storing completed exams (including printing materials from student exam stations)
  • Responsible for ongoing invigilation throughout the Exam Centre or its satellite locations (including invigilation via AIS’s monitoring software)
  • Reporting and following through with the process for incidents of cheating in the Exam Centre or its satellite locations
  • Communicating with instructors when students have questions or concerns about their exam/assessment
  • Maintaining physical and digital exam/assessment spaces in between seatings (i.e. ensuring clocks are accurate, desk spaces are clean, computers are cleared)
  • Assist in the facilitation of the exam/assessment pick-up process

Assisting in the facilitation of exams

  • Packaging of exams/assessments
  • Highlighting required information on exam/assessment cover pages
  • Checking and confirming the accuracy of information listed on the exam/assessment cover page
  • Maintaining key processes established by the Accommodated Exam Facilitator
  • Assist in the organization and securing of exams/assessments
  • Communicating any issues or concerns in a timely and efficient manner to the Accommodated Exam Facilitator

Administrative Support

  • Maintain the reputation of Access and Inclusion Services as a professional, friendly, and helpful service area
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Access and Inclusion Services process and procedures
  • Triage and direct community members appropriately when navigating questions or concerns on the phone or in the Exam Centre
  • Knowledge of accommodations used by students with disabilities

Other Duties As Assigned

  • Knowledge and understanding of the duty to accommodate legislation
  • Knowledge and understanding of Alberta Human Rights legislation
  • Familiarity with Mount Royal University’s Accommodation and Universal Access policies
  • Supporting the accommodation of students
  • Other duties as required by the Accommodated Exam Facilitator or Accommodated Exam Centre Coordinator

Qualifications Education and Training:

  • A minimum of a two-year diploma from a University or equivalent
  • Experience working with adult learners is an asset
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, customer service, reading and writing skills
  • Flexible and willing to work on an on-call basis
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently, and take the initiative to respond to new situations

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Knowledge of issues faced by students experiencing disability related barriers;
  • Knowledge of general office procedures
  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, and databases
  • Knowledge of how to save and print documents
  • Knowledge of various assistive technologies, or willingness to learn
  • Listening skills - understand the concerns community members may have and develop positive relationships
  • Must be willing and able to communicate effectively within a team
  • Demonstrate empathy, compassion and respect when interacting with community members
  • Understand and comply with confidentiality requirements under FOIP legislation
  • Be willing and able to accept and act on feedback from colleagues
  • An ability to take initiative
  • Resolve situations quickly, maintain confidentiality, and seek support when needed
  • Excellent and effective organizational skills
  • Must be detail-oriented
  • Able to multitask accurately and efficiently
  • Ability to manage time effectively
  • Must be reliable and punctual

Salary: $23.39 per hour
