At SMS Equipment, we believe the right partnership makes everything possible. We’re looking for a General Supervisor, Mechanical and Welding to join our team in Elkford, BC. This position offers a competitive salary of $125,000 – $135,000 annually, a 7x7 rotation, and a comprehensive benefits package. Your Role
- Ensure compliance with safety policies, environmental controls, and regulatory requirements.
- Lead, coach, and mentor mechanical and welding employees to support performance, safety, and development.
- Coordinate shop and field service work across local and remote locations, ensuring efficiency, quality, and productivity.
- Oversee work schedules, resource allocation, and production metrics to ensure targets are met efficiently
- Support training, onboarding, and growth opportunities for your team.
- Drive continuous improvement through workflow optimization and implementation of best practices.
- Maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners, supporting issue resolution and preparing customer quotations.
What You Bring
- A minimum of 3 years of leadership experience in a related field
- A minimum of 5 years of experience as a journeyperson in a relevant trade
- Strong background in coaching, mentoring, and team development
- Experience with work planning, scheduling, and performance goal setting
- Business acumen with the ability to manage costs and budgets
- Knowledge of safety best practices and relevant regulations
- Previous experience in the heavy equipment industry is an asset
- Experience working in a unionized environment is considered an asset
