Position Summary
Quinte 5 is a 54-bed acute medicine unit that cares for some of the most acute patients outside of our ED and ICU. Our team is committed to supporting each other in providing our patients with the highest quality care possible. Our team offers you a dynamic and supportive work environment to apply your skills and continue to develop your nursing knowledge. The Q5 team uses an interprofessional and collaborative approach to care, consisting of RNs, RPNs, PSW/HCAs, UCCs, PTs, PTAs, OTs, OTAs who deliver care as an interprofessional team. Our team members are supported by clinical resource nurses, professional practice specialists and on unit patient care leaders and in-charge nurses.
Required
- Current Certificate of Registration in good standing, or eligible for registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Completion of Coronary Care 1 or equivalent (ex. Cardio Concepts) or able obtain within 6 months.
- Current CPR, BLS, or BCLS certificate.
- Capable of coping with a physically demanding workload. (Physical Demands Analysis (PDA) available to review)
Duties
- Provision of care for patients within an interprofessional environment, including assessment, treatment, teaching and education.
- Performs acts requiring specialized knowledge, skills and judgement necessary for care of acute medical patients.
- Teaching and coaching to patients and families.
- Maintains nursing records in accordance with College of Nurses Standards.
- Practicing in compliance with provincial legislation, hospital policy and procedures, professional regulatory standards and best practices within the nursing profession.
- Maintaining professional competence by completing regular professional development including annual training and education as indicated.
- Participates in unit/dept. and hospital quality improvement initiatives.
- Adheres to a safe and healthy workplace and maintains a safe and healthy work environment through attendance at educational programs, use of established mechanisms for injuries and hazards and adherence to health and safety-related policies and procedures.
- Adapts and adheres to the values of Quinte Health while promoting and advocating for an enhanced patient experience.
- Other duties as assigned.
