Reporting to the VP of Operations, the Quality Director plays a pivotal role in ensuring the highest standards of quality are upheld across all our construction projects. This individual will lead quality assurance initiatives, implement quality control processes, and collaborate with project teams to maintain compliance with industry standards, project specifications, and client requirements. The Quality Director will also perform regular site inspections to ensure that activities comply with the project specifications.
This opportunity is a full time, salaried, permanent position based on an in-office schedule and is based in our Mississauga, ON, office.
What You Will Be Working On
- Develop, implement, and manage the company’s quality control program across all projects
- Lead by example, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement in quality standards
- Support project teams in the implementation of mobile tools and technologies for QA/QC (e.g.: inspections, deficiency management, etc.
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure adherence to project specifications, codes, and industry standards
- Prepare and facilitate lessons learned, documenting key takeaways and sharing insights across teams to promote continuous improvement
- Provide strategic leadership and mentorship to site teams, ensuring quality control best practices are embedded at all levels
- Collaborate with project managers, site supervisors, and trades to address quality concerns, deficiencies and implement corrective actions
- Review project plans, drawings, and specifications to identify potential quality risks and recommend proactive solutions
- Lead and coordinate quality audits and inspections by internal teams, clients, and third-party agencies
- Provide training and guidance to site teams on quality control practices and procedures
- Prepare and maintain detailed quality control reports and documentation
- Continuously review and enhance quality control processes to improve project outcomes, demonstrating an innovative mindset and proactive problem-solving
What We Are Looking For
- A degree or diploma in construction management, engineering, or a related field is an asset but not mandatory
- 10+ years of proven experience in the construction industry, with a strong background in ICI, residential, or special projects
- Hands-on experience working as a Site Supervisor or Project Manager is highly valued
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams toward achieving excellence
- Proficiency in construction management software and tools is an asset
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CQM, ISO 9001) are advantageous
- Competent knowledge in CSA Codes and Industry Standards
- Understanding of Jurisdictional Authority of requirements
- Flexible and able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously; meet the time demands of unpredictable activities; capable of handling pressure and challenges in a dynamic business environment
- Effective and efficient problem solving and decision-making skills; thoughtful, proactive, and creative
- Demonstrates a sense of urgency and strong commitment to achieving goals; ability to work in a challenging, fast-paced environment
- Strong written and oral communication skills
