Coast Mountain College (CMTN), Terrace campus, invites applications for a regular Instructor for the Heavy Mechanical Foundation program. The appointment will commence on August 25, 2025. Salary will be in accordance with the BCGEU Instructor salary scale, ranging from $37.55 to $66.37.

Duties: The instructor facilitates learning and is responsible for ensuring student success in the Heavy Mechanical Foundation Program. This includes course preparation, teaching and guiding students, providing feedback, correction, encouragement, and direction. In addition, the instructor will oversee and ensure shop safety, complete the related administrative, record keeping and monitoring activities as well as other related duties as required to teach the program.
Qualifications
Heavy Duty Equipment Technician (HDET) or Truck and Transport Mechanic (TTM) with a Journeyperson Certification with the Red Seal (Interprovincial) endorsement and Grade 12 or equivalent. Experience should include a minimum of 5 years varied and recent field experience as a HDET or TTM Journeyperson. A Provincial Instructor’s Diploma or other relevant teaching certification and experience are preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Require skills/abilities include:
- Excellent organizational, communication and facilitation skills
- Demonstrated ability to ensure a safe working environment and safe work practices
- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and accurately in a collaborative team environment
- Demonstrated ability to provide a motivational learning environment
- Intermediate computer skills (MS Office, email, internet)
- Knowledge and enthusiasm for the characteristics of our strategic plan (adventurous, transformative, and integrity) with the demonstrated ability to apply them to teaching
