About the Toronto Cricket Skating & Curling Club: As a family-oriented private Club, our mission is to be a Great Club for our members by delivering exceptional experiences, inspired by our warm and welcoming culture. We are currently hiring a full-time Barista to join our Food & Beverage department. This position will be responsible for preparing and serving specialty hot and cold beverages according to the Club’s recipes and guests’ special requests. The Barista will provide full service in the Bistro-to-Go and Family Bistro.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepares and serve hot and cold beverages such as specialty coffee, teas, smoothies and other food products according to established recipe and presentation standards.
- Makes product recommendations, highlight various brewing methods and upsell other menu items.
- Sets up stations and replenishes displays neatly including separation of allergens.
- Attend to members upon entrance to the QSR/Family Bistro, presents menus and help members to select food/beverage, suggesting courses, explain the chef’s specialties, identify appropriate wine, respond to food preparation and other questions.
- Learns and stays current on all menu items, specials, and menu changes; ingredients, brewing and preparation methods.
- Serve and deliver orders, accompaniments, and condiments from bar and kitchen.
- Maintains and keeps all areas including tables, serving area, food & beverage preparation and common areas sanitary, clean, and restocked.
- Tracks food and supply inventory and assist with restocking.
- Cleans all equipment and workspaces daily; dismantles equipment and machinery for cleaning as needed.
- Works in compliance with Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA) and any safety policies and procedures set out by the Club.
- Conduct self in alignment with the Well Played service model (Prompt, Personalized, Polite) to support member services and respect in the workplace.
Job Specifications
- Completion of some high school or equivalent required; completion of Barista certification
- Smart Serve certification required
- Minimum 1-2 years of barista experience in a high-volume coffee shop or hospitality environment
- Proficiency in preparing espresso-based beverages and familiarity with specialty coffee brewing methods
- Must have knowledge of alcohol-based beverages and Liquor Board rules
- Working level skills in POS system
- Ability to provide excellent customer service within a hospitality setting

The Club has a rich history dating back to the establishment of the Toronto Cricket Club in 1827 which merged with the Toronto Skating Club and the Toronto - Victoria Curling and Bowlin Club in 1957.
The Club offers a wide variety of athletics including Aquatics, Cricket, Croquet, Curling, Fitness, Lawn Bowling, Skating, Squash and Tennis with programs and facilities for all skill levels and ages. Along with our athletics, we offer a number of dining options that include bistro dining to a casual sports bar. We also offer options for our families with regular events around the club including pumpkin carving, family skating, recreational swimming and outdoor movie nights.
