- Have training and / or experience at the Kindergarten level
- Have training and / or experience at the Primary level, and at leading a combined grade class, with an emphasis on early literacy / language arts
- Be familiar with the Early Learning Framework
- Provide a child focused approach utilizing current methodology and strategies
- Be familiar with and apply principles of self-regulation
- Have a clear understanding and working knowledge of learning through play (experiential learning)
- Have knowledge and commitment to using current assessment strategies, including formative assessment
- Have a commitment to the directions of the school as outlined in the School Growth Plan
- Embed the First Nations Principles of Learning in all subject areas
- Be committed to and practice the philosophy of inclusion
- Preferably have experience at implementing the Early Primary Reading Assessment
- Use positive approaches to behaviour management
- Be committed to working as a cooperative, collaborative member of a school wide instructional team attend meetings as required
- Be committed to consultation, parent conferences, and positive home/school/community liaison
- Have experience in the use of computer technology in the classroom
- Have experience using technology for communicating student learning

Walnut Park Elementary School
SALARY: The starting annual salary for full-time teaching position ranges from $62,718 to $110,161, with placement on the range based on length of services and qualification in accordance with the collective agreement. Additionally, $3,035 annually as a Remote & Rural Allowance. (July 1, 2025 Salary adjustments will be implemented once the BCTF/BVTU collective agreement has been finalized and ratified by all parties.)
