Senior Professional
About the role
Senior Professionals must be able to produce and supervise the production of accurate professional deliverables with particular attention to quality, time, and cost parameters, both independently and in a team environment. The Senior Professional must possess effective mentorship skills while leading by example in areas of reliability, organization, logic, and customer service, while being an effective communicator with colleagues and other professionals.
Role Responsibilities:
Quality Assurance:
- Seen as a leader in their field and participates in their professional community. Maintains and continues professional development and is a trusted voice for various clients.
- Collaborates, improves, and maintains Regional Quality Assurance and Quality Control through the utilization of existing policies and procedures, for example SNRC’s QMS program and the applicable Regional QAQC program.
- Perform and/or audit, field and office work to professional standards, including compiling field data into useful reports and prescribing recommendations or treatments, as well as completing standard plans and prescriptions.
- Ensure a clear understanding of the project’s scope and standards that you may be supporting.
- Maintain responsibility for the content and quality of personal work and that of coworkers.

- In a project context, ensure quality, standards, and production goals are met or exceeded individually and by others on the project.
- Ensure complete, high-quality, timely, and accurate packaging of deliverable products to the specific standards of the project.
- Report on the status of completion of projects or on significant issues that may arise, and offering options to address
- Maintain and ensure a high degree of personal safety and safety for all.
- Participate and support SNRC’s OH&S Program by personally adhering to and enforcing safety standards (including Safe Work Practice & Standard Operating Procedures).
- Work in adverse weather conditions and steep, brushy terrain as required.
- Travel safely by truck, boat, ATV, float plane and helicopter without issue.
- Maintain personal health and fitness in order to conduct fieldwork regularly and efficiently
Professional Engagement:
- Support in administering external contractors (potentially on behalf of their clients), includes conducting assessments on the quality of work and the level of payment as required.
- Ensure compliance with all statutory safety and professional standards legislation.
- Ensure complete and accurate field data gathering by self and field teams as required.
- If also acting as a Project Manager, ensure the Emergency Response Plan is understood and followed by the crew in the field.
- Ensure effective communication methods (radio etc.) with crew, transportation providers and others in the area.
Technical Leadership:
- Assist and support in the creation, auditing, and oversight of Strategic technical policies and procedures related to your areas of expertise.
- Support cross regionally as needed with technical skills whether as a subject matter expert, professional resource in project, time, operations, or cost analysis
- Utilize your technical skills to support any project bids or proposals, for timelines, quality, costs, and requirements that may be needed.
Training:

Participate in the training and mentorship of coworkers, sharing work experience and improving their technical skills.

Be part of a committee to review Strategics’ training policies, procedures, SOJT’s, and training content yearly and recommend any required changes.

Demonstrate and mentor a strong understanding of operational and silviculture issues: silviculture systems, silviculture activities and harvest systems; visual, archeological, retention, windthrow, and riparian management.

- Knowledge and experience in a natural resource sector
- The ability to have an entrepreneurial drive and mindset while balancing that within a collaborative organization
- An effective communicator
- Ability to travel within the Strategic regions for work as required
- Participate in camp shifts as required
- Attend and participate in industry conferences, workshops, trade shows as required
- Maintain professional image at work and within the company
- Maintain personal accountability for content and quality of work for self and team
- Class 5 driver’s license required
Qualifications:
- At least 10 years of demonstrated experience in a relevant technical role,
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the natural resource sector
- Project management experience would be an asset
- Professional designation in the natural resource sector is required
