Job Information
The Regional Supervisor, Child and Family Services (Supervisor) is located in Yellowknife and reports to the Regional Manager, Child and Family Services (Manager). The Supervisor uses several documents and protocols that serves as a foundation for the Family and Community Social Worker's role.
The Regional Supervisor, Child and Family Services, supervises a team consisting of Family and Community Social Workers, based in Inuvik. On a regular basis, this position is required to complete, or assist with the completion of any and all of the duties of the Family and Community Social Worker. This position acts for the Regional Manager, Child and Family Services as required and provides cover of responsibilities for other supervisors as necessary.
The Supervisor is required t to practice from a perspective that is trauma- and violence-informed, anti-oppressive, strengths-based and family centered approach and the position requires that interaction with clients and families, community members, partners and colleagues is tactful, respectful and humble. The Supervisor is required to provide after-hours supervision to Family and Community Social Workers on a regular basis, and provides assistance and services to other Regions within the NTHSSA as well as the other Authorities from across the NWT.
Typically, the qualifications for this position are:
- Bachelor's degree in social work and three (3) years of related work experience, with at least one (1) year of direct supervisory experience, OR
- A diploma in social work and five (5) years directly related work experience with at least two (2) years of direct supervisory experience.
- Completion of a Master in Social Work would be an asset.
- Must meet the GNWT Professional Registered Social Worker Requirement.
- Must be eligible for appointment as a Child Protection Worker.
