About the role
Bialik Hebrew Day School seeks an enthusiastic Math teacher to join our dynamic educational team to cover a paternity leave. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering Mathematics lessons based on the Ontario Curriculum for students in Grades 6-8. This role will include teaching and assessment strategies that infuse UDL and differentiated instruction methods and provide accommodations to support individual student profiles.
This is a part-time (80%) position for the 2025-26 school year and is located at our Himel Branch in Vaughan.
Key Responsibilities
Curriculum Development and Implementation
- Implement a comprehensive program that aligns with the Ontario Mathematics Curriculum
Instruction
- Deliver math concepts and skills according to the Ontario Mathematics Curriculum for Grades 6-8
- Facilitate engaging and developmentally-appropriate learning experiences for all students
- Utilize a variety of teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and abilities
- Foster a love for learning through creative and interactive activities
Student Assessment and Support
- Design and administer a variety of assessment tools
- Provide individualized support and feedback to help each child reach their full potential
- Collaborate with support staff to address the diverse needs of students
- Write student report cards
Classroom Management
- Create a positive, safe classroom environment that promotes respect and cooperation
- Implement effective and developmentally appropriate classroom management strategies to maintain a productive learning atmosphere
- Manage classroom behaviour in accordance with school policies
Communication and Collaboration
- Maintain open and effective communication with students, parents, and fellow teachers and administration
- Participate in Parent Teacher Conferences and school meetings
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance the overall educational experience
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Education
- Ontario College of Teachers Certification (OCT)
Skills and Experience
- Experience in integrating technology intentionally into the learning environment
- Strong interest in numeracy and cross-curricular application
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Energetic and passionate about fostering a love for learning in children
