Context:
The ALTO project is a major infrastructure initiative in Canadian history, aimed at developing over 1,000 km of new passenger rail service between major urban centers, including Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and Quebec City.
The Infrastructure and Civil Lead Manager manages all technical disciplines related to linear and civil infrastructure and associated structures for the ALTO High-Speed Line project. He/she supervises the teams responsible for the route of the road, engineering structures (bridges, viaducts, tunnels, etc.), roads and motorways, drainage, geotechnics and utility management, ensuring technical coordination, the quality of deliverables, as well as an efficient interface with the other engineering divisions (Building, Systems,...).
Missions/Main Duties:
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Management:
- Organize, coordinate and supervise the work of the various technical disciplines of the Infrastructure & Civil division.
- Guarantee the technical consistency, quality and compliance of the studies produced by the team.
- Ensure compliance with project standards, norms and specifications, as well as local regulations.
- Project management:
- Establish and monitor the production schedules of the division's technical deliverables.
- Participate in risk management, the identification of critical interfaces or points and the development of optimization solutions.
- Contribute to design and compliance reviews.
- Interface and coordination:
- Ensure an efficient technical interface with the other divisions (Building, Systems) to guarantee the overall integration of solutions.
- Be the privileged point of contact for cross-functional infrastructure and civil issues, in particular during arbitrations, coordination meetings and design workshops.
- Collaborate with other cluster heads, within the project, and with external partners, subcontractors or stakeholders.
- Reporting and communication:
- Ensure regular reporting of the progress of studies, alert points or subjects requiring arbitration, to the technical department.
- Participate in the drafting of technical and summary notes for clients and project management.
- Customer Relations:
- Develop and maintain a relationship of trust with the client and its representatives.
- Represent the Infrastructure & Civil division during technical and follow-up meetings with the client.
- Collect and analyze the client's needs, respond to their requests and ensure their satisfaction with the deliverables.
Profile/Skills:
Profile:
- Engineering degree (Master's degree or equivalent) with specialization in civil engineering, railway infrastructure, or related disciplines.
- Significant professional experience (>15 years) in the design and management of large linear infrastructure projects (ideally high-speed rail), including the management of multidisciplinary teams.
- Solid knowledge of North American and/or international standards for rail and road infrastructure.
- Proven experience in managing multidisciplinary interfaces and managing subcontractors/service providers.
- Ability to work in an international, multicultural and demanding environment.
- Good interpersonal skills, leadership, organizational skills and ability to anticipate/solve problems.
- Professional fluency in English and French (oral and written).
