CONTEXT
Reporting to the Systems Assurance Manager, the Systems Assurance Engineer is responsible for conducting reliability, availability, maintainability and safety analyses (RAMS).
MISSIONS/MAIN DUTIES
Responsible for the implementation of the safety and security certification program and the associated roadmap
Conduct reliability studies, including reliability block diagrams on complex systems
Write reliability and safety assurance plans, according to project requirements and applicable safety standards
Perform safety studies, including but not limited to: Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA), System and Subsystem Hazard Analysis (SSHA), Failure Modes, Effects and criticality Analysis (FMECA) and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA)
Review, revise and comment on supplier RAMS plans and analyses
Continuously evaluate the impact of new technologies, tools and standards and improve best practices.
PROFILE/SKILLS
Education: Bachelor's degree in electronics or electrical engineering, or other relevant discipline
Years of experience: More than 10 years of professional experience in similar positions, including 5 years in the RAMS operational safety sector
Technical competencies:
Be a PEO (Professional Engineers Ontario) licensed holder, or eligible to become one, an asset.
Have some experience in the field of system safety, applied in a metro type rail transit environment.
Detailed knowledge of system life cycle, security design principles and risk analysis
Knowledge of complex systems of security engineering and in real time, including architecture of systems, hardware and software
Knowledge of RAM methodological risk management tools such as failure rate prediction, Reliability Block Diagrams (RBD), Markov models, Monte Carlo methods, Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA).
Good knowledge of CENELEC Standards: EN 50126, 50128 and 50129 as well as MIL-HDBK-217 standards and local law.
Fluency in English (spoken, read and written).
Fluency in French (spoken, read and written), an asset.
Personal & soft skills:
Ability to work in a team environment in a multidisciplinary environment.
Ability to demonstrate leadership.
Ability to organize and plan his/her work.
Methodical, rigorous, and proactive.
