Distribution Operations Supervisor - Technical Systems & Facility Leadership
About the role
Position Overview Provides day-to-day leadership, supports, and prioritizes the activities of assigned staff; plans and schedules workflow. Ensures equipment and facilities are properly maintained, including programming and troubleshooting. Participates in continuous improvement activities in support of goals and objectives. Ensures a safe work environment is maintained at all times and observes safety regulations.
Manages daily operational performance, monitors KPI’s, sets productivity standards and continuous improvement objectives. Mentors staff to continuously improve each employee’s skill sets and experience. Shares accountability for employee morale, safety, quality, delivery and cost performance of the department. May supervise and coordinate activities of contractors, suppliers, and vendors.
What You'll Do Operational & Technical Leadership
- Provides supervision and leadership by managing and prioritizing the activities of staff, including a Shipping/Receiving Clerk and Material Handlers.
- Assumes responsibility for safety, staffing, training, departmental communication, discipline and employee performance management.
- Approves and monitors overtime and vacation on a regular basis, ensuring the budget and internal and external customer requirements are met.
- Monitors daily staffing resources and balances employee resources across the department based on daily production needs.
- Provides training, coaching, and accountability to employees when needed.
- Conducts annual performance reviews.
- Leads daily departmental meetings and occasionally leads continuous improvement events or projects.
- Reports department measures to employees and leadership on a daily basis.
- Confers with supervisors of other departments to coordinate flow of materials or products.
- May be responsible for accurate and timely receiving and shipping of material to external and internal customer facilities.
- May be asked to obtain proper licenses to operate material handling equipment to move materials, perform receiving activities, prepare orders for shipping / warehouse, etc.
Systems & Process Optimization
- Interacts with Manufacturing, Material Planning, Purchasing, and Maintenance personnel in local and offsite facilities in support of production and capacity planning needs.
- Audits/updates processes and procedures as needed.
- Uses problem solving processes and continuous improvement tools to solve problems and improve processes.
- Looks for ways to eliminate waste, improve safety, improve quality, and improve the work environment for team members. Ask for and use all team members’ feedback to develop and implement improvements in their work areas. If needed, coordinate with other resources to evaluate and implement these improvements when possible.
Safety, Compliance & Housekeeping
- Responsible for the overall care and management of the facility including safety, housekeeping, maintenance, personnel, productivity, staffing, inventory and purchasing.
- Ensures equipment and facilities are properly maintained per ODL standards while also over seeing ODL’s rigorous housekeeping standards.
- Ensures employees follow ODL safety procedures and have proper licensing before operating equipment and machinery.
- Oversees housekeeping and maintenance in area of responsibility. Ensures equipment and facilities are properly maintained.
What You'll Need Qualifications & Experience
- Associate’s Degree preferred
- 5+ years of related experience, including 2+ years in a leadership or managerial role
- Experience with barcoding systems and Oracle preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (lookups, pivots, conditional formatting)

- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
- Solid understanding of business operations and the ability to align work priorities accordingly
- Demonstrated leadership in coaching, developing, and motivating team members
- Effective communicator with integrity, maturity, and dependability

- Comfortable working independently and collaboratively
- Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively
Work Requirements
- Schedule flexibility required (may manage across multiple shifts)
- Able to work under pressure and in dynamic environments
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, databases, and MRP systems
- Able to operate and maintain relevant equipment
- Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs as needed
