Role Overview
We are currently seeking experienced Cantonese-English medical interpreters for a full-time, remote opportunity. This position focuses on providing over-the-phone interpretation (OPI) during medical appointments, consultations, and urgent care situations.
We’re looking for skilled professionals who uphold the highest standards of accuracy, ethics, and cultural sensitivity.

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver precise, impartial interpretation between Cantonese-speaking patients and English-speaking medical personnel
- Ensure clarity, neutrality, and confidentiality during all encounters
- Apply comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and patient protocols
- Follow HIPAA regulations and adhere to the Interpreter Code of Ethics
- Manage calls calmly and professionally across varied medical scenarios
- Remain available during assigned hours and actively participate in check-ins and quality reviews
Candidate Qualifications
- Fluency in both Cantonese and English (native or near-native level)
- At least 2 years of experience in medical interpretation (OPI or VRI preferred)
- Strong grasp of medical language, interpreter best practices, and confidentiality standards
- High school diploma or equivalent required (higher education is a plus)
- Excellent memory, listening, and note-taking skills
- Comfortable using digital tools and handling multiple call types
- Must successfully complete a language proficiency evaluation and background screening
Remote Work Requirements
To perform effectively and meet client standards, you’ll need:
- A wired Ethernet internet connection (Wi-Fi not permitted)
- Minimum 10 Mbps download/upload speed
- A computer or laptop with:
- Windows 10 or macOS 10.13 (or newer)
- At least an Intel i3 processor (i5 or i7 strongly preferred)
- Minimum 4 GB RAM (8 GB preferred)
- Noise-cancelling USB wired headset
- A quiet, dedicated home workspace
- Completion of a technical verification with our support team
