Position Overview

Responsibilities

Police Support Services is looking for a regular full-time Supervisor, Crisis Intervention to lead our Crisis Intervention and Victim Services team. This role combines leadership and hands-on service delivery to provide critical support to individuals during times of crisis. As supervisor, you will:

  • Lead and Support: Train, orient, and oversee Crisis Intervention staff, ensuring adherence to program guidelines, Victim Services legislation, and organizational policies.

  • Provide Direct Assistance: Engage directly in crisis intervention work, supporting victims and witnesses of crimes or traumatic events, including sudden deaths, suicides, family disputes, domestic violence, and next-of-kin notifications. You will provide follow up on referrals from police investigations and community resources.

  • Collaborate Effectively: Work closely with community and social agencies to coordinate support and enhance program delivery.

Requirements

You have a university degree in Social Work or Psychology, training and experience in crisis intervention and victim support services, and/or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Supervisory experience in crisis intervention and victim services is required, along with demonstrated experience in a leadership role. Additional requirements include:

  • A valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License.

  • Your own reliable transportation for which remuneration will be provided.

  • A declaration being free of conflicts of interest with other activities outside of crisis intervention employment (eg. activities involving an overlap of client groups, working with offenders while working with victims of crime, etc.).

Compensation

$42.45 to $50.13 per hour

(Pay Grade 24 – January 2024 rates)

Hours of Work

Any seven (7) consecutive hours exclusive of an unpaid one hour meal break, between the hours of 7:00am and 11:00pm, any five (5) consecutive days of seven (7). The City of North Vancouver currently works on a compressed work schedule, with one scheduled day off (Monday or Friday) approximately each three-week scheduling cycle.

Additional Information

You will also be required to obtain and maintain an RCMP security clearance as a condition of ongoing employment.
