About the role
BURNCO is on the hunt for a concrete Quality Control Technician/Technologist . Based in Kelowna, you will be responsible for quality control testing of concrete products supplied from our Kelowna, Penticton, and Vernon locations . The core function of this role will be QC testing, with the intention of development into a senior technical resource for our Okanagan based facilities. Preference will be given to candidates with related industry experience, but we understand the value of good people, and are open to developing less experienced individuals with the right attributes.

Responsibilities will commensurate with experience, and will include but are not limited to the following:
- Concrete quality control testing (at BURNCO and Customer locations)
- Regular interaction with clients, testing companies, and operations personnel
- Troubleshoot/recommend changes ensuring materials are delivered within specifications (product adjustments)
- Observation and reporting of placement, logistical, and curing conditions impeding product performance
- Observation/audit of third-party testing procedures
- Review and entry of test results
- Preparation and execution of batch trials
- Providing technical guidance to BURNCO personnel
- Reporting/resolution of safety related concerns and non-compliant practices
- Safely conduct all work in accordance with BURNCO policies
Requirements
- A valid BC Driver’s License with a relatively clean driver’s abstract
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Well organized, punctual, and reliable
- Capable of working with minimal direct supervision
- Some weekend work is required
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous concrete testing experience
- Certification with CCIL/ACI for basic concrete testing procedures
- Completion of technical post-secondary education (preference given to candidates with a background in civil, mechanical, or materials engineering with CET or EIT status)
- Working knowledge of concrete products and raw materials
- Experience with Command Suite of products – QC / Series / Batch
IMPORTANT: As a safety sensitive position, it is a condition of employment that selected candidate successfully pass comprehensive pre-employment testing that includes a Drug and Alcohol screen and Fitness to Work testing. Please note that we have a zero-tolerance policy for any Cannabis derived products regardless of use frequency or purpose.
