About the role
Summary The Procurement Manager leads the strategic direction and execution of procurement operations across multiple categories, including raw materials, packaging, services, and indirect spend. This role is responsible for optimizing sourcing strategies, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving digital transformation initiatives that enhance procurement performance and cross-functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies for raw materials, packaging, and ancillary services in compliance with Health Canada regulations.
- Lead supplier negotiations, contract execution, and performance reviews to ensure cost-effectiveness, quality, and reliability.
- Build and maintain strong relationships withs suppliers and service providers.
- Team Leadership & Development
- Manage and mentor a team of procurement professionals.
- Set clear goals, provide coaching, and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Support hiring and onboarding of new team members across multiple locations (e.g., London, Moncton).
- Process Optimization & Digital Transformation
- Identify inefficiencies in procurement workflows and implement solutions such as predictive analytics, AI natural language processing for contract analysis, and machine learning for supplier risk assessment.
- Oversee ERP enhancements, item master data governance, and reporting tools to improve visibility and control.
- Lead initiatives to standardize procurement forms and processes across departments.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with QA, Regulatory, Finance, and Commercial teams to align procurement activities with business objectives.
- Support commercialization efforts by ensuring timely procurement of materials for new product launches.
- Represent procurement in strategic planning, budgeting, and cross-functional meetings.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field; professional certification (e.g., SCMP, CPSM) preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive procurement experience, including 2+ years in a leadership role
- Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics 365), procurement analytics, and digital tools.
- Excellent leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience in manufacturing procurement preferred.
This is a hybrid role requiring 2 days a week onsite at any of our locations in London/Aylmer (ON), Moncton (NB), Lac Superier (QC) or Winnipeg (MB)
