About the Company
Our client is a distribution company. They are seeking a Senior Tax Manager (US Tax) who will be responsible for overseeing a key component of the company’s day-to-day financial operations: tax compliance and planning. This includes managing U.S. and Canadian corporate and sales tax filings, audits, and other external tax-related requirements.
The ideal candidate will bring proven experience collaborating with internal finance teams, external advisors, government agencies, and other key stakeholders. Success in this role requires a strategic mindset combined with strong business and operational acumen.

About the Opportunity
- Work with the internal accounting team and external advisers on tax returns including US/Canada federal, state income tax, sales tax, local business tax etc.
- Maintain a complete tax filling ledger that summaries for federal, state/provincial requirements to ensure all tax returns are filled in a timely manner.
- Review assessments and correspond with tax authorities on various issues. Lead and co-ordinate the internal and external tax audit review process. Collaborate responses to tax audits by the various federal, provincial/state tax authorities, as applicable.
- Advise on relevant US/Canada cross border issues and intercompany transactions. Develop and implement tax planning strategies.
- Analyze the difference between financial income and taxable income, and impact of the financial/operational provisions and carry over items. Provide guidance of compliance with tax regulations in US and Canada.
- Review transactional tax application in daily operation and business transactions. Review and /or prepare all government remittances.
- Assist with ad hoc strategic and operational financial projects as required
- Any other duties as required
About You
- CPA or equivalent designation
- Currently at the Tax Manager level or above
- Strong proficiency in US corporate tax compliance
- Canadian corporate tax experience is a strong asset but not required
- Public company experience
- Open to candidates from a public accounting firm or from industry
Salary Range
$150,000 - $165,000/year
