We are seeking an experienced Cisco Phone Specialist and Telecom Technician to join our Edmonton-based team. This role requires 100% travel availability to client sites across Western Canada. The ideal candidate will be a subject matter expert in Cisco phone systems with strong leadership capabilities to oversee installations and troubleshoot complex telecom networks.
The potential candidate should consider the following attributes and overall deliverables.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead installation, configuration, and programming of Cisco Unified Communications systems (CUCM, CUC, CER)
- Serve as primary specialist for Cisco IP phone deployments (7800/8800 series, Webex devices)
- Manage MDF/IDF cabling infrastructure including fiber optic and copper terminations
- Supervise technician teams on-site with complete project ownership
- Conduct advanced troubleshooting using Fluke testers, OTDRs, and network analyzers
- Maintain detailed documentation of installations and network configurations
- Provide daily progress reports to project managers
- Travel extensively (5 days/week) to client sites across, AB, BC, SK, and MB
Mandatory Qualifications:
- 3+ years hands-on Cisco phone system experience
- Expert-level knowledge of Cisco Unified Communications Manager
- Proven experience with structured cabling (Cat6, fiber) and MDF installations
- Ability to lead installation teams with minimal supervision
- Valid driver's license and clean abstract (company vehicle provided)
- Willingness to travel 100% (hotel accommodations provided)
- Physical ability to work in telecom rooms and climb ladders
Preferred Certifications:
- CCNA Collaboration or CCNP Collaboration
- BICSI Installer Technician
- Fiber Optic Association (FOA) certification
