Position Overview
The Fire Extinguisher Technician will be responsible for conducting field inspections, maintenance, testing, and recharging of portable fire extinguishers in accordance with local codes. This role also involves providing customer service and identifying additional safety needs, making it ideal for someone with a sales-oriented mindset.
Key Responsibilities
· Inspect, test, recharge, and maintain portable fire extinguishers in accordance with applicable standards and codes.
· Document all inspections and maintenance activities accurately using digital forms and company software.
· Identify and communicate additional safety product or service needs to customers.
· Deliver excellent customer service while on-site at client locations.
· Prepare inspection reports and certifications for clients as needed.
· Load, unload, and organize fire extinguishers and related equipment.
· Maintain a clean, organized, and safe service vehicle and workspace.
· Participate in fire safety awareness or promotional events, when needed.
· Support the development of the fire safety division by providing feedback and ideas for continuous improvement.
Qualifications & Requirements
· Certified Fire Extinguisher Technician (Alberta – ASTT Certification or equivalent required).
· Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and clean driver’s abstract.
· Minimum 1 year of relevant experience (inspection, testing, recharging of fire extinguishers preferred).
· Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
· Physically fit – capable of lifting and moving equipment (50 lbs+).
· Comfortable working independently in client-facing environments.
· Strong organizational and time management skills.
· Clear communication skills – both written and verbal.
· Basic computer literacy (email, inspection software, etc.).
· Sales or customer service experience is considered a strong asset.
Nice-to-Haves
· Knowledge of other fire protection systems (alarms, suppression) is a plus.
· Experience using digital inspection platforms or handheld reporting tools.
· Additional safety certifications (First Aid, WHMIS, Fall Protection, etc.).
