Evening and Weekend Childcare Worker
About the role
The role of the Evening & Weekend Childcare Worker is to provide quality care for children ages 0-12 years in the Child Development Centre. This hands-on position will deliver a fun and safe environment for children while they play in an open-ended play environment. This role will work on evenings and weekends as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure safety of children and staff while in the facility
- To plan and implement age appropriate, play-based activities such as dramatic play, large and fine motor play, manipulative toys, reading, blocks, floor play, circle time, games and art activities
- To supervise and provide care to all children. The care of each child includes snacks, feeding, diapering, toileting, washing hands and faces
- Actively and enthusiastically participate with the children providing positive guidance
- To clean and maintain toys and equipment
- To set-up, take down and general maintenance of the equipment and facility area
Administrative:
- Attend any staff meetings/additional trainings
- Meeting parents/providing important information about their child
- Making sure parents have completed medication forms, waiver forms, and authorization forms
- Conduct sign-in and sign-out procedures at the greeting desk
- Keeping track of receipts for childminding payments
Risk Management:
- Perform First Aid as required
- Complete Incident Report Forms as required
- Maintain activity areas to ensure cleanliness and safety
- Ensure the safety of participants and program area
Skills Required:
- Ability to work in a large team environment and independently
- Ability to work within a multi age group setting
- Good customer service skills
- Good communication and problem-solving skills
- Good organizational skills
- Experience with infants, toddlers and/or children
Physical/Psychological Demands:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced noisy environment
- Ability to lift 20-25 lbs and work in a daily routine of sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, and kneeling
- The successful candidate must hold high ethical standards as they are working with a vulnerable population, and has access to confidential information
Qualifications:
- Level 1-Early Childhood Educator Certificate or Equivalent required
- Must have current Alberta Approved First Aid training agency - CSA Standard Z1210-17 Intermediate First Aid
- Successful applicant must have a clear Vulnerable Sector Search at their own cost
- Must be a 18 years or older
Employment Term:
Part-time
Current Shifts available:
- Weekday-Evening (Tuesday & Wednesday evenings. Shift is 4:15-7:45pm)
- Weekend-Daytime (Saturday 7:45am-1:30pm & Sunday 7:45am-3:00pm)
- Special Events (as required, Friday evenings)
Closing Date: Aug 18th, 2025
- Interviews will commence prior to the closing date
This position is not eligible for Provincial wage top up
