Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure (MTI) is currently looking to fill two (2) Highway Resource Manager positions in the Western and Northern Region. Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

  • Must possess and maintain a valid full-stage Manitoba Class 5 driver's licence.

  • Must be able to travel extensively to work sites within the province by ground and/or air transportation.

  • Must be able to work occasional extended hours or period of time as project demands (including overtime and weekends).

  • Must be able to work in an outdoor rough terrain environment.

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Civil Engineering Technology Diploma or completion of Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure's Department Level 3 training program. An acceptable combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
  • Experience supervising, mentoring and coaching staff including training employees for career development and succession planning.
  • Experience in human resource management including but not limited to recruitment, performance management, grievance handling, and progressive disciplinary process.
  • Experience in the practices, methods and procedures involved in the construction of roadway projects.
  • Experience presenting and facilitating training sessions for various groups (i.e. large, small, external, internal and executive).
  • Knowledge and understanding of Occupational Safety, Health & Risk Management policies and procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong negotiating and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage, prioritize, plan and organize staff.

Duties:

The Highway Resource Manager actively participates in the on-going development and implementation of the department’s provincial recruitment strategies and initiatives, internal training programs and is responsible for human resource management for all engineering staff. Coordinates regional engineering staff and resources to ensure the successful delivery of the regional Capital Infrastructure and Highway Preservation programs. The Highway Resource Manager also develops succession planning strategies for the region by ensuring engineering staff have individual career developmental plans and are trained and prepared to meet the future needs of the region and department.
