Job Description:

Reporting to the Manager, Educational Technology in Learning and Teaching Services, the Digital Learning Environment Support Specialist (Tier 1) position provides Digital Learning Environment (DLE) front-line support to Algonquin educators through assessing, documenting, and fixing problems quickly (whether due to software/technical or user error) and to provide resolutions on first contact whenever possible.

The incumbent may also be responsible for technological support of the Employee Learning and Corporate Training systems. The role involves creating online and traditional training and communications materials, regular website updating, continuous redesign as well as technology support for day-to-day consulting activities of the Employee Learning and Corporate Training teams.

The incumbent provides technical guidance and professional development workshops to College faculty and staff on current and new educational technologies, applications, and application enhancements, keeping apprised of relevant new trends and technologies in digital learning.

The incumbent will capture feedback from clients on all forms of training and support provided; they will analyze, isolate and solve problems by providing corrective action to user-reported technical problems. The incumbent will use various troubleshooting tools and techniques as needed and escalate when necessary.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum three (3) year diploma in Educational Technology, Computer Science and/or Engineering, Education, or a relevant combination of education and experience;
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience with information technology and/or educational technology field including:
  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience supporting and troubleshooting courses in Brightspace Learning Management System (LMS) or other LMSs;
  • Equivalent education: relevant 3-year diploma or degree in addition to experience with LMS’ and faculty support/training;
  • Recent and up to date experience with the latest educational technologies, eLearning products and Learning Management Systems;
  • Experience in training and support of educational technology.

This position is eligible for hybrid work in conjunction with the College's Flexible Work Arrangement.
