Job Summary
The Suspension Bridge Attendant plays a key front-line role in ensuring the safe and enjoyable experience of all guests visiting the suspension bridge and viewing platform “Revelstoke Highline”. This position focuses on guest interaction, basic safety monitoring, crowd control, and support of daily operations. The ideal candidate is friendly, observant, and thrives in an outdoor, team-oriented environment.
Essential Job Functions
Key Responsibilities:
- Guest Engagement & Service
- Welcome and interact with guests in a friendly, professional manner.
- Provide information about the bridge, safety guidelines, and surrounding scenic views including chairlifts, mountains, and rivers.
- Answer guest questions and assist with directions.
- Promote a safe and respectful environment by enforcing posted rules and behavior expectations.
Safety Monitoring
- Observe guest behavior on and around the bridge to ensure safety and compliance with guidelines.
- Report any safety concerns, hazards, or incidents to a supervisor immediately.
- Monitor weather and environmental conditions and respond appropriately to changes as directed.
Bridge Operations Support
- Assist with opening and closing procedures for the suspension bridge attraction.
- Monitor guest capacity on the bridge and help regulate foot traffic as needed.
- Check that signage, barriers, and access points are in place and functional.
- Support evacuation procedures if required.
Maintenance & Cleanliness
- Maintain cleanliness of bridge area, platforms, and pathways (sweeping, garbage checks, etc.).
- Identify and report maintenance needs and report issues that need attention.
- Ensure daily operational checklists are followed.
Emergency Response Support
- Respond to minor guest incidents and provide initial support until patrol arrives.
- Know the location of emergency supplies and follow protocol during evacuations or closures.
- Use radios or communication tools to report emergencies or request assistance.
Required Qualifications and Abilities
- High school graduate
- Must be eligible to work in Canada
- Be able to provide proof of SIN – either card or document provided by Canadian government
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to stay calm under pressure and follow established safety procedures.
- Comfortable working outdoors in variable weather conditions.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and walk on uneven terrain.
- Previous experience in tourism, recreation, or guest service is an asset.
Working Conditions
- Outdoor position with exposure to various weather conditions.
- Requires standing, walking, and light physical tasks throughout the shift.
- Weekend, holiday, and variable shifts are expected based on operating schedule.
