About the role

Engagement Specialist (Remote/Unpaid Volunteer):

Join Empowered Futures as an Engagement Specialist

and bring energy, creativity, and connection to our EF Connect mentorship program. Empowered Futures is a nonprofit committed to empowering emerging adults through mentorship, emotional intelligence, and purpose-driven programming.

In this role, you’ll help build community through interactive events, visibility campaigns, and thoughtful outreach efforts. As part of the Program Development team, you will ensure that mentors, mentees, and supporters feel welcomed, celebrated, and informed throughout their journey. The position is best suited for someone who thrives in visible, participant-facing roles. Please note, this role is not part of HR and does not involve EF Volunteer engagement.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, coordinate, and facilitate virtual events and engagement opportunities (e.g., welcome calls, info sessions, celebrations)
  • Collaborate with the Program Development and Communications teams to build awareness and promote events
  • Create and distribute outreach materials using platforms like Canva, Mailchimp, or social media
  • Track attendance, collect feedback, and apply insights to improve future programming
  • Identify visibility gaps and engagement opportunities within the EF Connect cycle
  • Support the creation of an engagement calendar tied to mentorship milestones
  • Build rapport with participants and serve as a front-facing representative of the EF Connect experience
  • Align events and messaging with EF’s values of inclusion, empowerment, and community

Qualifications:

  • Experience coordinating or supporting events, workshops, or outreach campaigns
  • Postsecondary education in communications, education, public relations, or nonprofit management (preferred)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfortable hosting virtual meetings and engaging diverse participants
  • Familiarity with tools like Zoom, Eventbrite, Canva, Mailchimp, or Airtable
  • Experience working or volunteering in community, education, or youth-centered programming
  • Energetic, empathetic, and motivated by creating inclusive experiences
