About the Role
The Manager, Event Operations is a strategic leader focused on developing talent, driving operational excellence, and fostering collaboration across two hubs. Reporting to the VP, this role ensures consistent standards, shared learning, and high-quality execution across client programs. The ideal candidate leads with integrity, inspires trust, and delivers exceptional service to clients and team members alike.
Key Responsibilities
People Leadership & Development
- Set clear performance expectations and foster a culture of accountability and empowerment.
- Provide individualized coaching and mentorship to support professional growth.
- Design and deliver training programs to build core competencies.
- Promote recognition, inclusion, and structured innovation across the team.
Operational Management
- Allocate resources strategically based on skills, availability, and team dynamics.
- Guide budget management throughout program lifecycles and ensure financial transparency.
- Monitor utilization metrics to inform staffing and performance decisions.
- Review program hours and support proactive client communication on scope changes.
Operational Excellence & Collaboration
- Co-lead one of two hubs, ensuring alignment and consistency with the peer hub.
- Empower Event Directors to lead training for FTEs, contractors, and Trip Directors.
- Reinforce policy adherence and performance metrics using data-driven insights.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to align SOPs and optimize tools and workflows.
- Champion adoption of platforms like Smartsheet and Cvent to enhance efficiency.
Client & Program Oversight
- Oversee program assignments and ensure delivery meets timelines, budgets, and client expectations.
- Support client relationship management and provide escalation guidance on complex programs.
Strategic Initiatives & Reporting
- Align team goals with organizational strategy and track KPIs on engagement, training, and satisfaction.
- Lead or support special projects and represent the team in cross-functional forums.
What You Bring
- 6+ years of experience in full-cycle event or incentive travel program management, preferably in a third-party environment
- Proven leadership experience with direct reports and cross-functional teams
- Strong background in training, mentoring, and people development
- Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Cvent, and Smartsheet (or similar tools)
- Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and project management capabilities
- Passion for operational excellence and continuous improvement
- Ability to travel and work flexible hours as needed
