Job Summary
The City of Kelowna is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Baking Instructor to lead children and teen baking classes this Fall. Classes will run every Tuesday (excluding statutory holidays) from mid- September to mid-December. This is a contract position with the possibility for continuation based on performance and program needs.
As an instructor, you will teach youth (ages approx. 7–15) fundamental baking skills in a safe, supportive, and fun environment. This is a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about teaching kids and giving back to our community.
Responsibilities
Plan and lead weekly baking classes focused on basic skills (e.g. cookies, cupcakes, muffins, simple breads)
Create a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment
Encourage creativity and teamwork among participants
Manage time and supplies effectively for each session
Set up and clean up baking space each week
Communicate any incidents, supply needs, or concerns to the Program Coordinator
Follow all City of Kelowna safety and hygiene policies
Qualifications
Experience teaching or working with children and/or teens in a kitchen or instructional setting
Solid knowledge of basic baking techniques and safety practices
Food Safe Level 1 certification (required)
Current Emergency First Aid & CPR-C (an asset)
Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening (required)
Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills
Ability to engage and motivate young learners
