About the team

The Saskatchewan Teachers' Federation Disability Services team provide support to teachers who are unable to work due to sickness or injury through the Teachers' Long-Term Disability Plan. Teachers can receive both financial assistance and rehabilitative services with the recovery process and return to active employment.

What you’ll do

The Disability Service Representative provides sensitive, empathetic, and confidential service to members of the Teachers’ Long-Term Disability Plan. This position supports the day-to-day administration of disability claims, including preparing and processing benefit calculations, managing claim changes and continuation, and provides accurate information about plan provisions to members of the plan. This position is also responsible for providing administrative support to the claims committee.

What you’ll bring

  • A one-year certificate or diploma from a recognized business college, plus 2-3 years of benefits administration experience, preferably in disability claims administration. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
  • A completed Group Benefits Associate (GBA) designation or current enrollment is an asset.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Demonstrated initiative in undertaking assignments and completing work within strict timelines.
  • Demonstrated superior word processing, Excel and computer skills.
  • Proven effective client-service, interpersonal and public relations skills.
  • Mature judgement, particularly related to recognizing the consequences of providing inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to explain complex information clearly and empathetically.
  • High work standards related to information accuracy, completeness and confidentiality.
  • A good working knowledge of office procedures and practices.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail.
