Job Summary
We are seeking dedicated and knowledgeable At-the-Elbow (ATE) Support Specialists to assist medical staff and staff during the training and Go-Live phases of the Computerized Provider Order Management (CPOM) implementation at Southlake Health. This role is critical in supporting end users at the point of care and ensuring a smooth transition to the new electronic ordering system. The ATE Support Specialist will provide real-time, hands-on support to staff and medical staff using the CPOM system, troubleshoot basic issues, escalate complex concerns, and reinforce best practices to promote patient safety and workflow efficiency.
Qualifications
- Completion of post-secondary education, at minimum, with preference for students interested in pursuing a career in health care or informatics.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Able to approach and engage with all staff.
- Able to speak clearly and deliver concise instructions
- Strong computer and mobile phone skills
- Ability to document their activities and any issues that arise
- Able to walk and stand without restrictions
- Ability to work in fast-paced clinical environments with minimal supervision
- Able to workdays including nights and weekends

Primary Responsibilities
The students will be instructed on the features and use of Meditech Electronic Medical Record (EMR) including desktop and mobile handheld devices. The student is responsible for circulating throughout Southlake to assist the front-line staff and medical staff in learning how to access, navigate and use the application. The student will troubleshootany issues that arise and escalate those which cannot be managed in the moment as per procedure.
- Provide 1:1 and group support to staff and medical staff on the patient care units during the CPOM Go-Live.
- Assist providers in placing, modifying, and managing electronic orders within the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Educate end users on workflow navigation, order set use, favorites management, and common tasks.
- Serve as the first point of contact for frontline users experiencing challenges or questions with the system.
- Escalate technical or clinical issues promptly to the CPOM response center or technical support teams.
- Document common issues and trends to inform training and process improvements.
- Demonstrate excellent customer service, patience, and responsiveness during a high-pressure go-live environment.
- Support communication between clinical teams, informatics, and IT groups to ensure safe and efficient adoption.
