JOB PURPOSE

The Assistant Director of Medical Imaging is responsible for the administration and technical management of the Medical Imaging Service. Working closely with the Area Director of Medical Imaging, the Assistant Director ensures efficient and effective operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Bachelor of Health Science degree or a graduate of a school of Medical Radiation Technology.
  • Must be registered with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists or Sonography Canada and licensed and in good standing (a practicing member) with the New Brunswick Association of Medical Radiation Technologists or Sonography Canada.
  • Must have five years of Medical Imaging experience including three years of experience in a leadership role.
  • Ability to attend work on a regular basis.
  • Ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Good work record.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Assistant Director of Medical Imaging is responsible for:

  • Assisting the Area Director in planning, organizing, directing the provision of Medical Imaging services ensuring safe, high quality and optimal patient care outcomes
  • Evaluating its programs and reporting on the utilization of financial, material and human resources and budgets
  • Developing, coordinating and/or implementing new programs with a focus on productive, efficient and effective operations
  • Supervising the technical and support services in the Zone
  • Performing human resource management functions including recruitment and management of staff
  • Promoting an environment conducive to open communication, positive attitudes, motivating, coaching, and empowering team members
  • Participating in the implementation of cost and quality controls
  • Liaising with medical staff and serving as a clinical liaison with other services and stakeholders
  • Ensuring that applicable accreditation standards are met and maintained
  • Provide coverage for the Area Director of MI as required
  • Other duties as assigned
