About the role

Our client, a leading Canadian industrial contractor specializing in construction, maintenance, and shutdown services for the mining, oil and gas, pulp and paper, and infrastructure sectors across Western Canada, is seeking a Scheduler to join their team on a major project in Burnaby, BC. This is a full-time, site-based role offering the opportunity to support high-profile mechanical and piping scopes within a dynamic, hands-on industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, and update project schedules for mechanical and piping scopes using Primavera P6 or equivalent scheduling tools
  • Coordinate closely with Superintendents, Project Managers, and Field Engineers to collect and verify progress updates
  • Perform critical path analysis and identify schedule risks or delays, providing mitigation strategies where needed
  • Support lookahead planning and daily/weekly scheduling of field activities
  • Track progress against baseline schedules and prepare performance metrics and reports
  • Integrate procurement and material delivery timelines into the construction schedule
  • Participate in project meetings, providing input on schedule status and updates
  • Maintain accurate records of schedule changes and justifications
  • Ensure schedule alignment with project execution plans and client milestones

Ideal Candidate Requirements:

  • 3–8 years of experience in scheduling or project controls, ideally within industrial, mechanical, or heavy construction environments
  • Proficiency in scheduling software such as Primavera P6 , MS Project, or similar tools
  • Mechanical or construction background preferred, with experience scheduling piping or industrial construction scopes
  • Strong understanding of construction workflows, field operations, and sequencing of work
  • Degree, diploma, or technical certification in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills, with a proactive approach to problem-solving
