requires

Urgent Response Service (URS) Coordinator

Contract up to 12 months with possibility of extension

Function: To provide the Urgent Response Service in a comprehensive, flexible and timely manner including screening of children/youth with Autism who request the service, providing service navigation for all children/youth referred, and leading the development, monitoring, and evaluation of the Urgent Response Service plan for those who meet the criteria for the service and their families.

Responsibilities:

  • To determine eligibility for URS;
  • To redirect those not appropriate for URS;
  • To collect comprehensive information that supports service delivery at the beginning and throughout the family’s participation in the URS;
  • To support the development, monitoring and updating of the URS plan;
  • To provide a coordinated, collaborative experience for the child and family;
  • To work collaboratively with project partners in the delivery of the Ontario Autism Program;
  • To act as a liaison in the community at large;
  • To support the ongoing principles and administration of the Agency;
  • To demonstrate strong communication skills;
  • To be responsible for professional development and acquisition of knowledge and skills; and
  • To perform other related duties.

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree or diploma in social sciences or related field.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in the Children’s Service System.
  • Good working knowledge of provincial policies and legislation concerning children and youth.
  • Extensive knowledge of the range of support services available to children and their families in Durham Region and beyond.
  • Good organizational skills to support planning for client services.
  • Knowledge of and proven skills in providing case management/service coordination.
  • Strong interpersonal skills specifically in the areas of facilitation, negotiation and mediation that support the development and maintenance of good working relationships.
  • Ability to work independently and participate as a team member.
  • Flexibility and a sense of humor.
  • Strong communication skills, written, oral, listening and non-verbal.
  • Demonstrates sensitivity and responsiveness to the needs of families.
  • Ability to assess the needs of clients and make sound judgments to coordinate activities.
