Major Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Supervisor, Fleet Maintenance and under the direction of the Automotive Mechanics, and within the regulations as set out by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, the Truck & Coach Technician (310T) Apprentice will:
- Work under the direction of a licensed 310T Truck and Coach Journeyperson Technician, complete tasks on automotive and truck vehicles, as set out by the Skilled Trades of Ontario Truck and Coach (310T) Apprentice Technician curriculum.
- Perform all aspects of Preventive Maintenance on vehicles as trained, including changing oils, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment.
- Assist and perform repair of fluid/power train components, including engines, engine components, transmissions, pumps, motors, differentials, and final drives and hydraulics, within their qualifications.
- Assist with engine tune-ups and overhauls and the maintenance and repair of City vehicles and equipment.
- Utilize a variety of hand and power tools and equipment.
- Operate and relocate vehicles in and out of garage, participate in road tests and respond to road service repairs as directed.
- Ensure that health and safety regulations are adhered to, and all obligations are met.
- Utilize the Fleet Management System (M5) to input and maintain accurate records.
- Perform cleaning duties as required.
- Perform other work-related assignments.
Key Qualifications:

Possess a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent diploma

Must be eligible to be registered with Skilled Trades Ontario and prepared to participate in the in-class/school learning components.

Possess and maintain a valid Province of Ontario Class "G" License and must qualify for the City's equipment operating permits and requirements
You Must Also Have:

The ability to successfully complete a written test and interview with a practical component

Provide copy of 310T Truck and Coach Technician Logbook if already registered as an apprentice with Ontario Skilled Trades.

Must be able to travel to different work locations as assigned

Must be physically capable of performing essential duties of the Truck & Coach Technician (310T)
