Executive Assistant to Parliamentary Assistant
About the role
The Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (MCCSS) is a provincial ministry in the government of Ontario. MCCSS provides supports and services for the most vulnerable in our communities. The ministry works to improve outcomes and support the wellbeing of children, youth, families, individuals with disabilities and individuals at risk of or experiencing gender based violence. Files also include financial aid for veterans, youth justice, Ontario Works, Ontario Disability Support Program, the Ontario Autism Program and others.
The Minister’s Office is looking for an Executive Assistant to support MPP Lorne Coe in his role as Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Children, Community and Social Services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide day-to-day executive administrative support to the Parliamentary Assistant
- Manage the PA’s schedule, coordinate meetings and travel arrangements
- Prepare and edit briefing notes, reports, and correspondence
- Monitor emails and communications with stakeholders, ensuring timely and appropriate responses
- Liaise with government departments, stakeholders and constituents as directed
- Conduct research on legislation and issues before the House or committees
- Assist in planning and executing events, ensuring all logistics are handled efficiently
- Review legislation, committee reports and reports to inform the Parliamentary Assistant’s work
- Support the PA at events and engagements
- Accompany the PA on province-wide business travel
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in political science, public administration or social sciences
- G license and reliable access to a vehicle is required
- At least one year providing executive level support
- Experience in a government office is an asset
- Experience in a political environment is an asset
