The Communications Assistant helps execute communications initiatives aimed at engaging the public and advancing CREAN’s mission
This is a hybrid student position with very flexible hours. Eligible candidates must live in Victoria, BC. Only domestic undergraduate students are eligible due to government funding restrictions. Position start date is contingent on funding approval. Read the qualifications closely.
Interviews will be conducted on a rolling basis starting June 17. Please submit your applications early.
Hours: 10 - 15/week
Wage: $21/hr
Start date: September 15 2025
End Date: January 26, 2026
Job duties:
- Growing and developing a variety of content for CREAN's social media channels, marketing programs, and resources and raising awareness of CREAN's mission and programs by creating and sharing interesting, relevant, and engaging content.
- Identifying new and innovative ways to enhance and expand CREAN's social media presence and outreach to various stakeholders.
- Support the development and execution of digital campaigns around key communications initiatives.
- Assist with writing a variety of content to support communications and marketing efforts, including newsletters, website copy, outreach materials, and press releases.
- Support the development and implementation of marketing and communications strategies that raise awareness of CREAN's mission and grow the organization’s audience and engagement.
- Identify marketing trends and insights
- Optimize content for social media and manage CREAN's website and social media channels
- Work with various content formats such as blogs, videos, audio podcasts, etc.
- Assist with video and audio editing
- Moderate and attend CREAN events
Qualifications:
- Must be a Canadian student enrolled in an undergraduate program.
- Due to government funding, eligible students must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents. International students are not eligible.
- 1-2 years of communications and/or marketing experience in non-profit or advocacy space.
- Public speaking experience
- Previous experience using Hoosuite, Canva, Meta Business Suite, LATER, and other marketing tools.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills.
- Superior time management and organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal communications skills, with the ability to work well in a team and build relationships with people from a diversity of backgrounds.
- An analytical mind and ability to think critically.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $21.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10 – 15 per week
