Your Opportunity:
As a Medical Laboratory Assistant II, you will provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient, and safe manner. You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching, and testing of specimens, performing procedures, and reporting results. You will provide on-site technical support to the team, help manage wait times, assist with projects, and work closely with Supervisors and Managers. This position contains a variety of shifts, between 0600-2030 hours and includes rotating every third weekend that could include a Saturday shift or Saturday and Sunday shifts.
Description:
As a Laboratory Assistant II, you will perform advanced preanalytical or analytical techniques on specimen/samples or coordinate, prioritize, monitor, and assign duties of laboratory staff in your assigned area. You will resolve escalated issues, conduct quality control investigations and maintain technical and operational procedures. You will be responsible for ensuring laboratory staff maintain compliance with policies and procedures and will provide coaching and feedback to staff and students.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program.
Additional Required Qualifications:
ECG experience within the past 5 years Venipuncture experience within the past 5 years. Minimum of 2 years of recent experience working as a Medical Laboratory Assistant I in Community Services/Patient Care Services is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Supervisory experience is an asset.
