Our courses cover a wide range of topics, including but not limited to business, technology and health. These courses are offered in a variety of formats on campus, online, in the workplace, and in the community.

The department is seeking a professional interested in contributing their expertise to teach in the Massage Therapy Diploma.
Name of Course: XMAT25002 Musculoskeletal Anatomy (Lecture)
Days and Times Offered: Blended
Course Description: Gain detailed knowledge of the musculoskeletal system including anatomical components, functional characteristics, joint ranges of motion, and actions of individual muscles. Identify, name, and palpate bones, bony landmarks, muscles upon contraction, and their attachment sites. Professional decorum, effective communication, hygiene protocols, and informed consent will be emphasized.
Course Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- recognize the classification of joints
- name, identify, and palpate joints, bones, and bony landmarks
- name, identify, and palpate origins, insertions, and actions of muscles
- identify the musculoskeletal structures of each of the body regions
- demonstrate professional practice in all circumstances
- communicate effectively
This blended course has an online lecture and in-person components. The instructor will use the approved curriculum; implementation of applicable curriculum assessment measures; marking and submitting final course grades. The instructor will also be required to maintain regular contact with the administration team and adhere to university policies and deadlines.
Responsibilities
Instruction:
- Lesson preparation (record video lectures etc.)
- Course delivery
- Marking/grading
- Course outline preparation
- Facilitate course delivery using approved curriculum and learning materials
- Review and revision of course assessments
- An online instructor is required to access the course daily; however, there are no predetermined times of the day an instructor is required to be online. Online instructors must have reliable internet service throughout the entire period of the course.
- Reply to students within 24-48 hours.
- Collaborate with the lab instructors
Administration:
- Marking and submission of course grades
- Maintain regular contact with the program administrative team
- Participate in virtual instructor meetings and individual meetings with the program coordinator as required
- Participate in meetings and adhere to university policies and deadlines
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary credential in a related field
- Proficient understanding of the Inter-Jurisdictional Practice Competencies and Performance Indicators for Massage Therapists at Entry-to-Practice.
- Working knowledge of copyright and APA citation
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience with accreditation
- Instructional experience in an adult education environment is an asset
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Self-motivated and self-directed
- Proficiency with Google Workspace
- Proficiency with the D2L learning management system is an asset
