About the role

Home Care Assistance Edmonton is looking for Disability Support Workers for children who have experience in a community setting and is dedicated to providing care to children with various needs in the surrounding area of Edmonton.

A Disability Support Worker plays a key role in providing safety, high-quality service and patient / family-centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of Home Care Assistance Edmonton.

As a Disability Support Worker, one is responsible for assisting people in the community with disabilities. The tasks performed for each client are as varied as each person’s particular needs. However, typically a disability support worker will support clients with the following diagnosis:

  • Autism
  • ADHD
  • Fetal Alcohol Syndrome
  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Conduct Disorder
  • Developmental Disorder

Skills Required: The ability to balance numerous demands and conflicting priorities is essential. The candidate must be able to problem solve situations in a complex environment, work effectively within a team or independent setting and provide excellent communication skills, compassionate, caring attitude and attention to detail is required.

  • 3+ year Disability Experience
  • Good attendance record, reliable, punctual, caring, pleasant personality.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position such as standing, walking, stooping, reaching, lifting and transferring clients.
  • Adaptable and have great problem-solving skills
  • Able to work independently, with access to their own vehicle
  • Caregiver must have a Drivers License and Vehicle
  • Must have experience working with children with Autism
