About the Role:
Lifeguard
To ensure the overall safety of participants, prevent accidents and respond to emergency and public relations situations. Maintains effective public relations employing a tactful, polite and helpful demeanor. Ensures the cleanliness of the facility.
Instructor
To implement the Lifesaving Society and Department programs in a safe and enjoyable environment demonstrating good class control and safety supervision. Excellence in customer service and enthusiasm is a high priority.
What You Will be Doing:
- Perform various administrative, Lifeguarding, Instructing, Team Member Aquatics, Guest Services tasks, as assigned.
- Understand and follow all applicable facility, aquatic, municipal policy and procedures, (including Occupational Health and Safety) to ensure the aquatic facility remains safe, clean and healthy.
- Model the rules of the facility with a positive attitude.
- Participate and provide in water demonstration with a high level of enthusiasm and energy for all levels and programs.
- Establish a positive, respectful, and inclusive environment while developing a good rapport with participants.
- Maintains a level of physical fitness appropriate to the demands of lifeguarding required to fulfill any emergency procedure for any circumstance
- Provide effective emergency response, executes proper rescue techniques and renders CPR/ first aid.
- Ensure that all lifesaving equipment is checked, set out and put away each day, reporting any deficiencies immediately to the Head Guard.
- Carry out other duties as assigned.

About You:
Qualifications:
- National Lifeguard (valid for two (2) years from the date of issue)
- Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor (valid for two (2) years from the date of issue)
- Lifesaving Society Lifesaving Instructor (valid for two (2) years from the date of issue)
- Standard First Aid and CPR C (valid for three (3) years from the date of issue)
- HIGH FIVE® The Principles of Healthy Childhood Development
- Vulnerable Sector Police Clearance valid for two (2) years from the date of issue
- Must be at least 15 years of age.
- Experience working in aquatics
Skills:
- A professional and enthusiastic employee who embraces a service-minded approach
Other Requirements:
- Must be willing to work a variety of shifts including days, evenings, weekends and holidays
- Proven completion of Ministry of Labour Worker Health and Safety Awareness training.
- A demonstrated commitment to enhancing a safety culture.
