The City of Martensville is one of the fastest growing cities in Canada and we have an opening for a Casual Fire Prevention Bylaw Inspector.
Reporting to the Fire Chief, this position performs bylaw inspection and enforcement of the Fire Prevention Bylaw and Nuisance Abatement Bylaw for the City of Martensville, pertinent sections of the Cities Act, NFC of Canada and any relevant Federal and Provincial statutes that pertain to the City of Martensville.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for a high level of personal safety, as well as the safety of all others including co-workers and the public.
- A good understanding of all City of Martensville Bylaws under Martensville Fire Department jurisdiction.
- Inspection of untidy properties, junked vehicles and building nuisances, and drafting related corrective notices, letters, tickets and orders to correct the problem.
- Responsible for the safety and security of confidential material pertaining to the FireBylaw Department.
- Maintain courteous and positive public relations with residents of the community, businesses, and other City staff.
- Enter Incident Reports into reporting system in a timely manner to ensure a high level of service to City residents.
- Issuance of summonses and subpoenas and prepare related legal documents.
- Appear in court and give testimony related to the prosecution of bylaw offenders.
- Receive and investigate complaints in a prompt and efficient manner.
- Required to wear the prescribed City of Martensville Fire Department uniform and appropriate identification, and to maintain in a tidy manner.
- Required to perform work in indoor and outdoor settings, in all weather conditions.
- Ability to recognize and diffuse potentially high conflict situations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
- Required to maintain a driving record to be insurable by the City's automobile insurance company. Responsible to reimburse the City for any insurance surcharges levied as a result of driving offences.
- Acceptable Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector checks.
- Organized and able to plan effectively.
- Able to work for extended periods of time under various weather and strenuous working conditions.
Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following:
- Level III Fire Fighting
- Certified First Responder or Higher Medical Training
HOURS OF WORK
This role has flexible hours and will depend on workload. Evening and weekend work may be required.
WAGES
As per the CUPE LOCAL 2582 Collective Agreement - 2025 Rates: $33.73 per hour

The community is served by the Saskatoon/Richter Field Aerodrome located immediately west of the city across Highway 12.
