About The Role Canadian Blood Services is looking for a temporary full-time Development Assistant I to join our dynamic MAI Innovation & Portfolio Management team.
The medical affairs and innovation division provides oversight for innovation and research, organ and stem cell donation and transplantation. In this role you will be responsible for supporting blood component production and quality testing on a variety of projects.
Formula for success
- Drawing on your knowledge and experience in laboratory functions, you will support the planning and effective operation of the netCAD Blood Research Facility.
- Utilizing your attention to detail, you will ensure all procedures and experiments are carried out according to Operating Procedures or Study Protocols and in compliance with GMP requirements.
- Using your excellent organizational skills, you will be involved in the maintenance of appropriate documentation and records in compliance with Canadian Blood Services operational procedures and work instructions.
- Applying your ability to be proactive and ensure excellence, you will perform routine maintenance of equipment and work areas to ensure safety and quality of blood products.
- Other duties as assigned.
Desired education and skills
- Completion of a secondary education and minimum of 2 years laboratory work experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Certification as a laboratory assistant is desirable.
- Phlebotomy experience is an asset.
- Technical skills including MS Office, and the ability to learn systems and programs, as required.
- Must have good oral and written communications skills.
- Ability to follow instructions precisely, prepare and maintain accurate records, and carry out repetitive tasks.
- Experience with blood component processing preferred.
