Under the general supervision of the Director, Systems and Process Improvement, the Functional Analyst will be responsible for providing analysis, quality control, planning, and recommendations related to process execution and performance of peripheral systems which integrate with the Student Information System (SIS). Examples of systems include, Student Awards system, Admissions Management system, and Customer Relationship Management system. The Functional Analyst will be expected to work independently in multiple systems in alignment with the overall objectives and guidance provided by the Director.

The incumbent will work in partnership with the business areas, external support providers, and Information & Technology Services in the analysis and development of solutions to the business processes and systems that relate to the student experience and data management. The incumbent will lead complex analysis initiatives, solution assessment and validations, and coordinate communication with stakeholders. The incumbent will possess profound knowledge in their areas of expertise and help departments achieve their business goals by recommending solutions that aligns with their strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyse the impact of new functionality to existing business processes; identify opportunities for functional enhancements and determine strategies for future system customizations.

  • Provide options, advice or recommendations regarding solutions to problems or changes to process.

  • Analyse the interaction between peripheral systems and PeopleSoft Campus Solutions (CS) to determine if changes are required to achieve business objectives.

  • Identification of how to better align the system to business needs (Process improvement).

  • Quality Control / Auditing the use of the system and identifying risks when data is out of alignment with process.

  • Provide functional support. This involves troubleshooting, training support and the development of reference and training materials.

  • Consulting with users to capture business requirements.

  • Contribute to project planning and decision-making related to staffing resources and implementation of new initiatives.

  • Communicate to staff about new functions, processes and/or rules.

  • Support and process reporting requests for internal and external requirements.

Skills & Abilities:

  • A thorough knowledge of post-secondary regulations and operations, particularly in the Registrarial Services area.

  • A logical and analytical mind with an aptitude for problem solving and process improvement.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills to effectively translate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Ability to work within critical deadlines and balance competing priorities effectively in a high-stress, high-volume environment, including the ability to deal with ambiguity.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary technical degree or diploma; a degree is preferred.

  • Prior experience working with student administration systems (preferably Blackbaud Awards Management).

  • A Business Analyst citation/certificate is an asset.

  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).

Remuneration: $60,656.96 - $81,200.34 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package. (Classification – Process Analyst I).

This position is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) Collective Agreement.
