Position Summary: At University Health Network, the breadth of skills, proud histories and stellar reputations of Toronto General Hospital, Toronto Western Hospital, Princess Margaret Cancer Centre and the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute, come together to achieve a common purpose and vision. Clinical and research staff at The Princess Margaret represent many of the world's leading experts in oncology, with specialties including: Blood & Marrow Transplantation (BMT), Surgical Oncology, Chemotherapy, Radiation Oncology, Psychosocial Oncology, Malignant Hematology, Radiation Therapy and Medical Imaging.
Providing a link between the hospital and the community, the Autologous Stem Cell Transplant/ Immune Effector Cell (IC) Coordinator, works with the program leadership team to ensure effective management, planning and coordination of transplant program activities.
Qualifications Duties:
- Manage and coordinate referrals for Autologous stem cell transplants/IC, utilizing and applying current specialized knowledge and expertise on recent advances in nursing practice to provide, manage, coordinate and facilitate continuity in patient care management for patients with complex needs both directly and through consultation
- Functioning as a consultant in the resolution of complex patient management problems
- Performing teaching/education responsibility
- Collaborating with the BMT Quality Management Committee to develop and implement continuous quality improvement activities
- Participating in academic and research activities/projects
- Performing administrative responsibilities
- Performing cross-functional and/or other duties consistent with the job classification, as assigned or requested. The main focus of patient care activity is Myeloma and Lymphoma.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors of Science in Nursing, Master's Degree preferred
- Current certificate of competency (licensure) from the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Completion of Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.) program
- Up to 4 (Four) years current and relevant experience, including experience working in an advanced clinical practice role required (e.g. experience working with malignant hematology patients)
- Certification in Oncology Nursing from C.N.A. preferred
- Effective organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent decision-making and problem solving skills
- Excellent time management skills
- Excellent teaching skills with the ability to teach one-on-one and/or groups
- Ability to function collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team and/or independently
- Ability to work in a self-directed manner
- Demonstrated awareness of and adherence to professional and ethical standards
- Client service oriented, with the ability to effectively work with diversity and appreciate that people with different opinions, backgrounds and characteristics bring richness to the challenge or situation at hand
- Computer literacy
- Research experience preferred
- Membership with the RNAO preferred
