About the role
The Business Development Manager (BDM) is focused on Power Tools / Outdoor Power Equipment (OPE), driving sales and profit growth through a network of dealerships. The BDM ensures dealer needs are met, and complaints are resolved in a timely manner while also creating sales for the dealer through end-user customer visits. This role uses sales strategies to sell Company products, including communicating product advantages with regards to ROI, environmental benefits and product performance. Dealer and landscaper prospecting and training, keeping abreast of the latest industry trends and understanding the competitive set are all contributors to success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain solid working relationship with prospective dealers and internal channel partners to meet and exceed sales goals for the commercial OPE brand.
- Present advantages and demo products to both end users and dealer prospects.
- Conduct training events for dealer personnel.
- Continually meet or exceed sales targets by using proven sales techniques to sell company products and services to dealers.
- Analyze sales and marketing data to determine the most effective business development techniques.
- Conduct surveys to better understand dealer needs
- Attend trade shows to promote company products and services.
- Ensure the brand awareness and product knowledge within an assigned dealer territory meets company expectations.
- Monitor competitor’s sales activities within assigned dealer territory.
Position Requirements:
- 4-year degree, or a combination of education and relevant work experience.
- 3-5 years’ experience as a business development or territory manager
- Ability to implement sales strategies
- Proven ability to hit performance KPIs
- Self-motivated, resourceful with strong strategic and leadership skills.
- Strong time management skills
- Ability to develop strong relationships with senior leaders.
- Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills
- Solid business acumen, management, and problem-solving skills
- Acceptable motor vehicle record
