About the role
MAIN DUTIES:
- Under guidance of the Site General Manager, supervise and manage a team of staff, including cooks and food services.
- Oversee dietary staff to plan and coordinate daily food preparation and services to ensure timely and efficient operations.
- Monitor food quality, portion control, and presentation to maintain high standards of service.
- Create and implement menus that are nutritious, diverse, and appealing to residents, while considering dietary restrictions and special requirements.
- Lead and actively participate in food preparation, cooking, and serving, ensuring high quality and timely services to residents.
- Train, develop, schedule and support dietary staff in food handling, preparation techniques and proper sanitation practices.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, following health and safety guidelines.
- Monitor and manage inventory levels and place orders for food and supplies as needed, ensuring cost effective practices.
- Maintains relationships with vendor partners.
- Manage resident inquiries and feedback, addressing concerns promptly and ensuring a high standard of satisfaction.
- Under guidance of the Site General Manager, conduct performance evaluations for dietary staff, providing feedback and implementing necessary training or corrective actions.
- Collaborate with other departments, to ensure smooth operations and effective communication.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A positive rapport with seniors, friendly and helpful team player.
- 2+ years supervisory experience in a volume food preparation environment in a retirement residence, healthcare, or hospitality industry.
- Must be physically able to perform lifting, bending and repetitive tasks.
- Current First Aid and Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
- Must have a clear and current criminal record check.
- Advanced Food Safety Alberta Certification and WHMIS is required.
- Effective interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
- Basic computer skills.
SCHEDULE:
- 16 days / 128 hours in a 28-day rotation, 0.80 FTE
- Hours of Work: 6:30 am to 2:30 pm
- This position works 2 weekends per rotation
- This is a temporary position for a 3-6 month duration.
