FACILITY: Wetaskiwin Housing DEPARTMENT: Maintenance
TITLE: Journeyman Refrigeration Mechanic STATUS: 1.0 FTE - Temporary
POSITION SUMMARY:
The incumbent is responsible to the Facility Services Manager for efficient, effective operation and maintenance of
heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) and refrigeration equipment and systems within The Bethany Group. The
incumbent will do skilled work at the Journeyman level and will train and work with Maintenance Service Workers
regarding preventative maintenance procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS:
(Education; Experience/Training; Knowledge; Licenses/Certificates; Membership Requirements)

High School Diploma
-
Five years’ experience in refrigeration mechanic trade

Alberta/Interprovincial Journeyman HVAC & Refrigeration Mechanic Certification

Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
REQUIREMENTS:
• Trouble shoot controls and related electrical problems
- Repairs, renovates, builds and modifies refrigeration systems and equipment, including repairs and maintenance
of equipment
- Assist with preparation, scheduling and carry8ing out a detailed preventative maintenance program for maximum
efficiency and effective use of equipment

Works on renovations or alterations and installations to meet the client’s needs and maintain building standards

Prepares labour and material requirements and estimates from blueprints and specifications to complete projects
within specified time

Provides and maintains inventories of tools, stock and equipment

Must be able to obtain permits, as required, in order to meet provincial and municipal standards

Maintain ongoing contact with Facility services Manager/Maintenance Supervisor
SHIFT INFORMATION
Mandatory LAPP membership for permanent Part-time and Full-time employees that work a 0.7 FTE or greater (see policy FS 03-04)
Hours per shift: 8 Shift pattern: Days Shifts per Cycle:

PAY RANGE: As per collective agreement
