Position: IT Infrastructure Specialist – Systems

Status: Two (2) Permanent Full Time (1 Bilingual)

Program: Information Technology

Initially assigned to: 176 Main Street West

Purpose:

Reporting to the Manager of IT and Decision Support, the IT Infrastructure Specialist-systems will participate in the planning and implementation of policies and procedures and ensure the secure deployment and maintenance of systems and policies consistent with CMHA (Canadian Mental Health Association) North Bay and District goals, industry best practices, and government and legislative requirements.

Education and training:

Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology or related program experience administering computers, servers, and networks

Requirements:

  • A negative Police Vulnerable Sector Check
  • A valid Class G driver’s license and proof of insurance
  • Daily access to a reliable vehicle
  • Current First Aid and CPR certificate required
  • Current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) training or willingness to obtain
  • Current Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) or willingness to obtain
  • Able to lift at a minimum 20 lbs. from squatting to standing position
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is required

Experience:

  • Five years’ experience in optimizing the use of customer-facing technology
  • Five years' experience with servers, backups, networks and web standards and protocols such as Active Directory, E-mail, DNS, DHCP, BGP, IPsec, VPNs, VLANs and TCP/IP, HTTP/S and HTML.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, Microsoft 365, and vSphere is required
  • Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining server hardware including RAID, FC, SAN, and NAS.
  • Experience in managing Windows server operating systems.
  • Experience with other operating systems including Windows 10/11, and MacOS.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as PowerShell.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Proficiency in Mobile Device Management & Desktop hardware and software deployment.
  • Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting abilities and analytical skills are required.
  • Strong client (staff) service focus.
  • Ability to train staff in the use of technology.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
  • Ability to analyze and troubleshoot network, server, mobile device, personal computer problems, and develop effective solutions.
  • Ability to operate under deadlines and manage competing requests from multiple program areas.
  • Experience with system testing concepts would be an asset.
  • Good interpersonal and communications (oral and written) skills.
  • Experience with the ITIL 4 framework, change control process and help desk management.
  • Be available in an on-call basis to troubleshoot and resolve IT issues after hours.

Selection Process: Candidates will be selected for the position based on their skill, ability, experience, and qualifications as identified in their resume

Shift: Days (7 hours/day; Monday-Friday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm)

French Language Services Required: Bilingualism in English and French is required for this FLS-designated position. Priority will be given to candidates who meet the bilingual requirement. However, unilingual candidates are still encouraged to apply and may be considered if the French language requirement can be otherwise fulfilled or if no suitable bilingual applicants are identified. A formal French proficiency test will be conducted.

Salary: $32.77 – $38.05/hour
