This role sits within Laurentian Bank Securities, a subsidiary of Laurentian Bank.
Under the supervision of the department manager, the Officer, Transaction Settlement, Stocks and Bonds, will see to the proper settlement of transactions on Canadian securities markets, the preparation of new issue settlements, the coordination and daily reconciliation of the Bank's finances and the borrowing of securities. The incumbent will also work with management to review operational procedures and be required to ensure compliance with various internal and external policies.
Responsibilities
- Settle transactions versus the payment of Canadian stocks and bonds with other institutions using CDSX/ARROW systems.
- Reconcile IBM/ARROW transactions.
- Export daily transactions on the settlement system.
- Ensure the availability of securities to make deliveries.
- Prepare and settle new issue transactions according to the standards established by various stakeholders.
- Submit requests to borrow securities from financial institutions; pledge securities.
- Notify internal clients of any transaction settlement problems.
- Conduct daily follow-up on outstanding transactions.
- Compile financial forecasts for various operating segments.
- Reconcile the Bank's call loans with the trader.
- Transmit daily financial data updates to various stakeholders.
- Serve as a contact person for internal and external clients.
- Perform all similar or related tasks.
Qualifications

University degree or any other relevant experience

Bilingual* (spoken and written English and French)

Knowledge of ISM, CDSX, and ARROW settlement systems and Microsoft Word and Excel

Capacity to work well under pressure and in ambiguous, unpredictable or complex situations

Ability to provide quick and effective customer service

Strong team player

Professional working proficiency in French and English languages required as position involves frequent written and oral communication on complex matters with internal and external parties in both languages.
